Louisville has long been home to powerful stories of resilience, innovation, and justice. In 2016, our city was awarded the Culture of Health Prize for its commitment to health equity, cross-sector collaboration, and the role of artists as agents of change. Nearly a decade later, the work continues—deeper, broader, and more urgent than ever.

 

The Advancing Racial Equity initiative brings together a network of local partners committed to addressing systemic racism through investment, storytelling, and community-centered design. This work spans neighborhoods historically impacted by disinvestment and injustice, and is rooted in a belief that health, opportunity, and dignity are rights—not privileges.

Through a series of interconnected efforts—like the Community Foundation’s Invest Louisville initiative, IDEAS xLab’s (Un)Known Project, and the Parks Alliance of Louisville’s Parks For All strategy—Louisville is charting a new path forward. One that honors our past, reflects our present, and builds toward a future grounded in equity.
